Race Prep

Howdy!

The blogger has changed and Ma is a bit frazzled with how it works.

I have been busy getting ready for this seasons sled dog racing events and Ma has been making me run about a bazillion kilometres for each training run to make sure I am fully prepared and fit she says.

I get rather tired after these horrendous distances

(Note from Ma: Our training runs are generally between 3 to 5km and we sometimes have breaks if its warm... We also go for walks during the week and make sure Koda doesn't get bored - a passion for running for Koda and having fun are at the top of my list!)

I actually love running lots and keep up with the others we train with although sometimes Ma has to scoot lots so we don't fall behind. She is good and scoots heaps during races so I can run faster!

We are doing freight this year - we did this last year too - Ma's scooter is weighted with lead plates so it is over 35kg in total. It means the lead plates are around 20+ kg and get bolted on so Ma can still work her scooting magic!

Last time I did freight I didn't even notice and actually ran better in my race than a normal scooter race!

See! I am a happy chappy when I've been running!

How have you all been?

Your pal Koda.

I have returned! Again...

Howdy Friends!!!

I have been absent for long times. A lot more has happened since I last made a miserable attempt at keeping this bloggerywhatsit going.

* Our replacement car that we got to replace the one that blew up, blew up. So now I have EVEN BETTER Koda wheels that I think you will all approve of!

* My Ma left her job for the Governments and now works for a company that designs/makes/sells its own brand of merino clothing! She brings home wonderful garments and praises the lord that my fur isn't sticky. I wonder what some of you fluffers would do to her precious clothes if you got your paws onto them!

* Prior to starting said job which has resulted in long times by myself and an abundance of loneliness, she went on holiday!! I was sent to camp for 2 weeks then my Nan picked me up from the doggy prison and I had 2 weeks lazing in the sun with her and going on adventures - swimming in the lake and sunbaking. Ok so it wasn't all bad...

* My Ma purchased me a new Condo for me and also a holiday home for me to have at Nan's place permanantly. I am currently living part time in the Condo and part time inside, and have rented by holiday home to my big sister at Nan's house - she is a good kitty and will look after it well providing I get the caretaker (Nan) to attend to the ongoing maintenance and pay her pawer bills!!

I have now threatened to give Ma the old heave-ho and she has agreed mercifully to provide me with assistance with regular postings and such like.

So this is a welcome back for all and hope to visit you soon and catch up on all the news!!!

Weightpull!

Hello folks!

Happy Winter from New Zealand!

We had some horrendous weather over a week ago which resulted in our skifields being graced with wonderful fresh snows and sent out farmers out to rescue their stock from high fields and countrysides. It also meant that I was stuck inside while it rained, hailed and sleeted up a storm. Since then it has been absolutely cracker weather which has resulted in outings finally!

Since we don't have anymore sled dog events coming up, Ma has got me practising my hearing and listening with weightpull. We got a lovely new harness from Nordkyn and Ma had to get it fitting just right, so we had a little puddle around in the weekend. The weight I am dragging is only about 25-30kg. Ma has two packaged up originally but when she attached me to that it was rather hard to drag... so one weight and sliding on the ground was just hard enough! Especially for a first practise.

Here I am having a thought as to why I should be pulling this wrapped up package behind me.. seems like a pointless exercise.. whats an MD to do?

So I did what an MD does best. Argue with the authority...

And talked back some more...

This clearly wasn't working, Ma made me pull this cumbersome thing for about 671258 miles (note from Ma: It was only about 20 metres all up...). The cheek of it.

Fine, Ma you win!! I'll blimming well just do it then!

OK. So maybe it wasn't that hard. But for dogness sakes WHY! If she wants the darn thing moved across the grass she can blimming well do it herself next time. (Note from Ma: YAY he hasn't lost his labrattention span, yet)

The competition for weightpull is in September and Ma says we only have to do this a little bit every couple of weeks just so I get back into the listening thing. She said that it was a bit embarassing last time when I nearly didn't pull until the time was up each time. I knew what I was doing... just wanted to create a bit of tension...

Hope everyone else is chugging along well and goodly and enjoying their summer or wintertime!

Cool beans

Return of the MD

GREETINGS PALS!

I am back, its been a while and I am going to try and catch up with all of you properly this time and convince Ma to help me more often so that we can all keep in touch.

It would be fair to day a few things have happened since I last updated all my faithful followers and furiends! Perhaps I will sum it up in a little poetic text...

Biking and walking and running and scooting
Eating and treating and snoozing and schmoozing
The big car blew up and we were a bit stuck
But at least we were not far from our friends (so we didn't need a tow truck...)

They rescued us quick and we borrowed a car
Our plans all but changed cos we couldn't go far
Ma parted with monies and bought us some wheels
But theres not much room for sleeping and meals
So we can't go to lots of races
Because theres ice and snow in lots of places
And the wee car we have now is a sporty wee ride
But lacks that faithful little four wheel drive

Ma has been lazy and neglecting me
And I have been refusing to run
But when Ma decided to get the scooter out again
I am pulling like I'm being shot with a gun

We have races in two weeks
And more late in June
I've been running fantastic (as long as its dark, the daytime runs have been pretty miserable...)
And acting like a loon

I'm exhausted from a busy weekend
Assisting the humans mend trails

But hence, they look fantastic now
And ready for dog barks and wails

I'm catching up with all my furiends
With Ma assisting me to type
Its a big job to visit you all
And see whats been happening and ripe

Please bear with me while I see to you all
And make sure that all my friends are well
I've missed out on months of happenings
But I'm sure all your bloggies will tell.

Best wishes
Koda MD

Ma's new toy

Greetings pals

Ma got a new bike and she has been neglecting me by biking with it and says I can't go cos it would be too far and she can't bail as quick with clippy in shoes if I'm attached to the bike.

I suppose it makes sense.

I was worried that she would be off on her little bicycle all hours of the day and forget about me, but Alas! I got in on the photoshoot and Ma made sure to tell me she still loves me lots

Now I just need to get her to get one of those trailer things so she can tow me around!
HA! That'd give me plenty of time to muse about my MD learnings.

Poofields

Hello pals

Do you see anything wrong with this picture? Aparently Ma was quite miffed about something about 5 minutes after cutting the lawn very very short....

Yes you are correct. Poofields mean Poofields. Hence the poo...

Happy Trails!

Actual adventure

Greetings puppies and kitties!

In my previous post, I shared with you the pathetic Niagara Falls. That wasn't what Ma went to see without me, but was a mere side trip on the way home.

Ma was off to visit Curio Bay which is in The Catlins, a very scenic part of New Zealand. It was a beautiful day and a good drive to test out the new Kodamobile.

She didn't see any whales or dolphins or penguins.
But she did see this little cutie:

She couldn't remember her name but she was a rottweiler cross. Very cute, Ma stopped by and asked if she could cuddle her.
Wish she'd brought her home for me.
Oh, and they saw this creature:
The sea lion was sunbaking on the side of the driveway and had lots of people stopping to take photos of it.
I think I'd be scared of that.

Niagara Falls = Pathetic

Hello Pals

My appearances have been sparse and far between but I assure you I am ok. Ma has been busy working and eating and biking so hasn't had much time to type blog posts for me, I'm not sure where her priorities are at the moment!

I dug up some photos from January, Ma and TeamHusky's Mummy went for an adventure without the doggies. I was left at home to sunbake in my poofields which wasn't too bad.

She said she went and visited the New Zealand version of Niagara Falls. I thought they were meant to be marvellous and extreme and amazing.

See - here is the sign:

And here is the lovely illustration slash photo:

They looked nothing like the photo. They were abysmal, pathetic and a downright let down. Ma said it was lucky she didn't drive there specifically to see them as she would've been very disappointed.

See, looks nothing like the advertising photo at all.

Never believe what you see in advertisements BOL.
